Rain or Shine..

Its raining today and I've managed to stay dry through my 2 mile walk from my pad to the store. Wearing a pinkish tweed coat and equestrian slacks protected by a giant plaid umbrella it occurred to me specifically why fashion is important.

What you wear petty much determines the flow of chi in your body for the day... A floral jacket versus a tweed coat for example. Both cool and amazing and yet each express two very different moods. The tweed makes me feel serious and Katherine Hepburn like.. There's an air of old school Hollywood mixed with punk is what it's all about. To have a little fun and spunk and be serious enough to accomplish what ever it is you must accomplish for the day...

The tweed works: To get to the store and look lavish simultaneously.

I open the store and my eyes catch glimpse of a variety of colors and styles of clothing and accessories all scattered through out the store that seem both playful and fun: "I wanna have fun today!" is the first thought that comes to mind.. "I want to feel happy and vibrant" in spite of the gloomy rain out there.

What to do?

Itunes blasting french pop music "Bardot" singing a 60s pop anthem. It's feeling less rainy and more sunny already :O)

hmm... scoping out the entire store it stares at me:

The piece pictured on our lovely model above is especially made by cherry pick and is a one size fits all .... A dreamy delicate head piece made of vintage beads and a classy dainty gold plated chain handmade with love! Very boho chic and circa 60's its both ethereal and not of this world.. I can't remember the last time i saw some one wearing one of these..

The subtle vintage turquoise beads hanging from the sides accents the face slightly and brings a little color to the face.. There's a little hint of Cleopatra in there also which makes it more versatile and exotic.

Imagine a matching eye shadow! wow what a difference a little color makes!

So here i am out of my wet tweed coat and now a 60's flower child. My mood is uplifted and i imagine myself sitting around a bonfire with jimmy Hendrix sipping coco!

The flow of chi in my body is no longer earth bound. I'm traveling time and space and it doesn't even matter what the day brings. My promise to myself: be happy now and not worry about the chaos for a minute.

Is fashion necessary?
Absolutely!

So whether its raining or sunny get out there have some fun and strut your stuff cause today is the day and it doesn't matter what the weather or your life circumstance is like! Get out of your head and into your heart!

what it means to cherry pick..

So here is finally a blog.
Over the past 2 1/2 years which is approximately when cherry pick started quite accidentally and purposefully there have been many different people telling us to blog though the future of this blog is uncertain we feel it is blessed.

I don't think every ones idea of a cherry is quite same. I know ours is really refined and specific. For example when choosing a garment what determines the desirability factor is how it looks first and foremost and though this is true its only a partial assessment....

LA is filled with amazing goodies floating around all kinds of places: Thrift shops, resale shops vintage stores, estate sales, flea markets, garage sales and etc.. I personally used to love going though stuff and finding the cherry among the trash and it felt so full filling to save the diamond in the rough...

Lately not so much. The idea of having to sort through a mess is mind boggling so it only makes sense that our store caters to those who like clean, refined classic unique pieces...

Throughout the excavation there are general patterns and specific choices that determine our picks. First and foremost as one of the creators of "CHERRY PICK VINTAGE" I have spent almost everything I've ever earned on clothes. I even once purchased a "Versace" dress at the Paris store for a ridiculous price of approx 8K! I was 19 and stupid and though there's nothing wrong with those that do. I am not wealthy and that dress i ended up paying for for years to come. But one thing that experience gave me was to know what makes a garment pricey and what it is like to shop at a cream de la cream boutique and that has influenced the decor and presentation of our store in LA.

As far as our merchandise they are all almost anonymous and overlooked pieces. In a world where most the populous is after fame and brand names the anonymous are all in waiting for a little love and recognition and this is our way of giving clothes that are abandoned abused and mistreated a good home and to adopt them to people who know their value and worth...

Everything in our store is desirable and super cute.. We some times pick random used pieces that are unique ranging from forever21 - Club monaco mixed with re inspired and re designed dress' and other.... If the garment is well made and special it doesn't matter where it is coming from..

Having said that above are a few pieces of past sold merchandise and currently available polka heels that best describe the look and vibe of our store ! come check us out if u can!

thanks :O)
